Happy Labor Day

Hope everybody is enjoying your Labor day! I have never known what the meaning behind Labor Day is, so I did a google search and here ya go...

History
Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country. The first Labor Day holiday was celebrated on Tuesday, September 5, 1882, in New York City, in accordance with the plans of the Central Labor Union. The Central Labor Union held its second Labor Day holiday just a year later, on September 5, 1883. In 1884 the first Monday in September was selected as the holiday, as originally proposed, and the Central Labor Union urged similar organizations in other cities to follow the example of New York and celebrate a "workingmen's holiday" on that date. The idea spread with the growth of labor organizations, and in 1885 Labor Day was celebrated in many industrial centers of the country.

So, you're welcome! :) heehee. Anyway... Yesterday I spent the day with my friend Leslie and her little sister (through big brother/big sister) and had a good time. Her little sister is 8 yrs old and absolutely adorable. First, we went and had lunch at Applebees, which left a lot to be desired because the potatoes and side dishes were cold. Afterwards we took a quick trip in to Walmart to get a few things and then we came back to my house, sat outside, talked and entertained the dogs with sticks and a ball, which later got punctured by Lady's teeth, unfortunately. :( It was a pretty day to sit out and catch up on each others lives, though. :)

Both Steve's bands had gigs at Nelson Ledges yesterday, which were back to back. He was glad about both bands playing back to back in the same day because the music festival was a 3 day event and he really didn't feel like staying over and roughing it if the gigs were scheduled on different days. I'm surprised he didn't want to stay the whole weekend because Mickey Hart, one of the drummers from Grateful Dead, will be playing today. Anyway....

Have a great day and week!
